A great cause…

Not sure if you saw this buried in our last post, but we really wanted to make sure you knew about this event.

On Friday, January 20th at 6 PM, we're taking on Irvington in San Marco Gymnasium.

This is much more than just a plain old dual meet though.

As many of you know, Robert Schwartz, the father of our senior wrestler Mike Schwartz, passed away after a battle with cancer right as the wrestling season was starting.

In dealing with this tremendous loss, our program is doing what it has done many times before - taking care of our wrestling family.

As a gesture of our support, we have decided to use our Friday night match against Irvington as an opportunity to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. Irvington Wrestling has enthusiastically agreed to co-sponsor this event with us.

The fundraiser is simple - all fans will be asked for a suggested donation of $5 or more at the door towards this cause, however a donation will not be required for admission. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society from both of our programs in memory of Robert Schwartz.

Irvington is a great rival, against whom we've had many exciting matches over the years. I'm sure Friday the 20th will be no different - only now it's for an even greater cause.

I hope to see many of you there and look forward to catching up!

Since this is our only Friday night match this year (instead of the Bronx River Cup), we'll be hosting an adults-only social for our parents and alumni at the Garth Road Inn immediately after the match. We'd love to see you there to catch up with the coaching staff, share stories and enjoy the evening together.

Really looking forward to seeing you!

Thanks and Feed the Panther!
