Seven members of the Edgemont Panthers Wrestling Team were named to the Southern Westchester Conference?s All-League Team.
The Panther?s All-League Wrestlers are:
?????? Tyler Aslanian (Freshman, 96 lbs) ? Aslanian was 5-0 in League competition in his first Varsity season. His League wins included a pin over Dobbs Ferry?s Nick Cipriano at 3:48 and an 11-1 major decision over Chris Martorella of Eastchester.
?????? Sky Korek (Sophomore, 96 lbs) ? Korek was also 5-0 in League competition. Korek helped the team by bumping up a weight to 103 lbs for most League matches and still finished 3 of those matches by fall.
?????? Trey Aslanian (Sophomore, 103 lbs) ? Just like his brother, Trey Aslanian also finished a perfect 5-0 in League competition. Aslanian was dominant with 4 pins, also bumping up a weight class to 112 lbs.
?????? Max Abramsky (Junior, 112 lbs) ? Abramsky netted his 3rd consecutive All-League honors with a perfect 5-0 record. He also asserted his dominance with 4 pins and a tech fall. Three of those falls came in the first period.
?????? Jack McCormack (Sophomore, 135 lbs) ? McCormack earned his first All-League nod with a 5-0 League record. McCormack had 2 pins in his League season, but perhaps his most impressive victory was his overtime decision over the highly-ranked Keith Griffith of Woodlands.
?????? Pete Berman (Junior, 140 lbs) ? Berman went 5-1 for the Panthers in their League matches this season, also earning his first spot on the All-League team. His most impressive League victories were a 27-second fall over Woodlands? Henry Avendano and a 22-7 technical fall over Sammy Theodoropoulos of Hastings.
?????? Mike Rothstein (Sophomore, 145 lbs) ? Rothstein was a perfect 5-0 in League competition with 4 pins. Three of his falls came in the first period, including an impressive 1:45 fall over Eastchester?s Giancarlo Mahlik.
Three of Edgemont?s grapplers also received All-Section honors:
?????? Sky Korek (Sophomore, 96 lbs) ? Korek finished 2nd in the Section, amassing 28 wins in the process. In the Sectional semi-finals, Korek upset #1 seed Steven Paternostro of Pleasantville with a thrilling overtime victory.
?????? Trey Aslanian (Sophomore, 103 lbs) ? Aslanian tore through Section 1, finishing the season with a 41-4 record. Only 1 of Aslanian?s losses was to a Section 1 competitor. He pinned his way through the Section 1 Championships and ended the season with 98 career wins.
?????? Jack McCormack (Sophomore, 135 lbs) ? McCormack finished his season with a second place finish in the Section Championships. His loss in the finals was his only loss to Section 1 Small School competitors the entire season.
Finally, Aslanian went on to receive All-State recognition:
?????? Trey Aslanian (Sophomore, 103 lbs) ? Aslanian ended his sophomore campaign as a NYS Runner-Up, wrestling out of the 4th seed spot. Enroute to the finals, Aslanian notched a pin, a technical fall and an exciting last-second decision.
