A new wrestling season began this week, and with each new season comes excitement about how each weight class will shake out and which competitors will be in position to earn Section 1 titles.
Yes, it’s early. And yes, most wrestlers only have one or two matches under their belts. But what the heck? Let’s take a crack at the first weight class rankings of 2015-16.
Before we move ahead, here’s an important disclaimer: These rankings are based almost exclusively on who did what last season. It’s way too early to tell which wrestlers made strides in the offseason, so all that we have to base these rankings on is past accomplishments. There will be plenty of opportunities for new names to emerge in the coming weeks and months, but we’ll start will those who have been there before.
One more disclaimer: Many of these wrestlers will change weight classes before the season is over. It’s typical for wrestlers to begin the season at a heavier weight before dropping down?after the holidays. For now, we’ll go with the weights at which they’re listed on TrackWrestling.com. A few of the weight classes look stacked, while others may appear a bit watered down, but it will all be sorted out eventually.
