The Panther Grapplers kicked off their 2014-2015 Season the way they always do ? by giving back to the community.
This year the Panthers teamed up with the Tommie Cares Foundation. The Tommie Cares Foundation builds community, possibility, compassion, and understanding through inclusive, real-life adventures for those with special needs.?Edgemont?s wrestlers got to spend the afternoon with some new buddies at WeeZee World, a play, fitness and learning facility for children located in Chappaqua, NY.
“It was a great opportunity for us to come together as a team and brighten up the day’s of the kids there,” said junior Max Worobow. “Seeing not only the smiles on the kids faces, but the smiles on the faces of the wrestlers playing with them as well made this the best service trip I’ve been on with this team,” added senior Sam Charnizon.
The Edgemont Wrestling Community Service Day has become a program tradition.
?It?s a big part of our Panther Tough philosophy ? of trying to create champions on the mat and in life ? to give back to the community,? said Head Coach Pete Jacobson.
?This is always a great way to kick off the season. It?s a team-building and bonding experience for the guys, but it also set the tone for the season of living your life the right way and doing the right things,? Jacobson said.
The Panthers are hoping for a lot more good things coming their way this season as they enter as one of the teams in the mix to take home the 2015 Section 1 Championship.
