The Edgemont Panthers will be?hosting the 29th Annual Edgemont Invitational Wrestling Tournament?this Saturday, January 22, 2010 at Edgemont High School in Scarsdale,?New York.
Wrestling is slated to kick-off at 9 AM with Finals tentatively?scheduled for 6:30 PM. Wrestling will be held on four mats in two?gyms.
This year’s tournament is probably the second largest tournament?hosted in Section 1 this year (Second to New Rochelle’s Shoreline?Tournament). The field features 19 teams from Section 1, Section 9,?Connecticut, Catholic and Private Schools and both Division 1 and?Division 2 teams will be competing.
The field includes: Collegiate (Private), Eastchester, Edgemont,?Hackley (Private), Horace Mann (Private), Mamaroneck, Monticello?(Section 9), Mount Vernon, New Fairfield (Connecticut), Pawling,?Pearl River, Rye, Rye Country Day (Private), Salesian (CHSAA),?Scarsdale, Tuxedo (Section 9), Westlake, Woodlands and Yonkers.
Five returning champions will enter this year’s tournament: Trey?Aslanian (Edgemont) 103 lbs, Dean Rogener (Westlake) 119 lbs, Troy?Whittemore (Mamaroneck) 125 lbs, David Rivera (Salesian) 140 lbs, and?Jacob Berkowitz (Scarsdale) 189 lbs.
Last year’s team champion was Scarsdale, followed by Edgemont, Horace?Mann, Mamaroneck and Yonkers rounding out the Top 5.
